There can probably be a Chinese equivalent of TUSK, but it probably doesn't exist yet. It likely has abysmal side protection, and I have never seen one of them with side ERA mounted, while the Abrams has TUSK. That being said, if talking about survival rates in urban environments against insurgents, and not against tanks in a large-scale war, the ZTZ-99A will be no more better than the M1A2. Its mobility is also superior to the M1A2. It's firepower is further enhanced with the gun's capability to shoot Refleks-type ATGMs. It has the among the most modern thermal-imaging systems, excellent FCS (demonstrated on the inferior ZTZ-96B in the tank biathlons), ERA speculated to be comparable with Russian Relikt, and new long-rod APFSDS ammunition that when shot by the 52-caliber ZPT-98 (which is based off the older Chinese 120mm gun, and not the 2A46) is speculated to penetrate 950-1000mm RHA at 2000m. The best Chinese MBT in PLA service, ZTZ-99A, is *at least* equal in capability to an M1A2 SEP, and is probably comparable with a SEPv2.
